Charleston welcomes the 2025 MGI North America Conference
Held in the heart of Charleston, SC, this year’s MGI North America Conference was a vibrant gathering of accounting and advisory professionals, marked by forward-thinking discussions, expert insights, and warm Southern hospitality.
Conference Highlights
The meeting was kicked off by North America’s International Committee member, Jeff Vroman, and Regional Director, Joe Tarasco, who presented the MGI NA Strategy and Year in Review. Joe also presented awards to:
- Robert Hoberman to congratulate him on his Firm’s 95th anniversary
- Paul Rudoy to express gratitude and appreciation in honor of his dedication, leadership, and service to the MGI North America Board
- Gary Fitzgerald and Elida Seretti-Pierson to wish them well and congratulate them on their retirement
We were thrilled to officially welcome LMHS of Boston, Massachusetts, as the newest member of the MGI North America family! Their addition brings fresh perspectives and strengthens our growing network of innovative firms. (Read more about LMHS HERE).
Variety of speakers
Joe led a productive and lively Practice Management, Tax, and A&A Roundtable session which addressed how AI, offshore staffing, and tech-driven efficiencies shape the “Successful Firm of the Future.”
Robert Silverman, Esq. of GDLSK delivered a standout session on “Tariff Engineering to Minimize Customs Duties in Today’s Uncertain Times.” His presentation was praised for its practical insights into navigating complex trade regulations and helping firms reduce costs through strategic tariff planning.
MGI member Cathy Zhang of Cathy Accounting Firm in China was also a featured speaker, contributing to the dialogue on starting a business in China and how best to navigate the tariffs amid the current economic situation.
AI and the accounting industry
The conference placed a strong emphasis on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its implications for the accounting industry:
Stephen Vono presented on “AI and Other Exposures and Risks Accounting Firms Face Today,” addressing both the opportunities and the cybersecurity and compliance challenges that come with AI adoption.
Nancy Damato presented two sessions focused on “AI-Powered Marketing: Digital Marketing Strategies, Content Creation, and Marketing Analytics for CPA Firms.” Nancy shared valuable strategies and insights for member firms and led a discussion about how members can collaborate, and share thought leadership content. She also provided updates regarding MGI’s Women Who Lead Group and shared details about our THRIVE workshop with Dr. Marny Lishman on June 19.
Southern hospitality
Charleston proved to be more than just a backdrop—it was a highlight. With its historic charm, cobblestone streets, and vibrant culinary scene, the city offered attendees a perfect blend of culture and relaxation. From scenic harbor views to world-class dining and warm hospitality, Charleston added a unique Southern flair that elevated the entire conference experience.
Attendees left the conference energized and equipped with actionable strategies to modernize their practices, expand service offerings, and embrace emerging technologies.
